Harbin Fair Boasts Trade Volume of 6.2 Billion Dollars
The 12th Harbin Trade and Economic Fair closed Thursday afternoon in this capital of the northern province of Heilongjiang, with its total trade volume hitting a record 6.2 billion U.S. dollars, up 8 percent from last year.
Some 5,200 overseas companies from 58 countries and regions attended the seven-day fair, along with 40,000 companies from 26 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
The trading volume of hi-tech and high value-added products rose substantially. A total of 44 technology contracts were signed, involving 110 million U.S. dollars.
Aimed at promoting trade with Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and East European nations, the fair was launched in 1990 at the approval of the State Council, with an accumulative trade volume of 50 billion U.S. dollars.
